Relationships are the center of life.

Devoted To Helping You
The fact that you are here, reading this, says something important about you. You have not given up. Underneath the frustration and the exhaustion and the silence, there is still a part of you that believes things could be different. That believes this relationship is worth the effort. That part of you is right.
The arguments are not proof that you are broken or that your relationship is beyond repair. They are proof that people are trying, although imperfectly, to be known by each other. The longing underneath all of it, to be understood, to stop feeling alone in the room with someone you love, that longing is still alive. That is where the work begins.
JANICE R. MILES,
MA, MED
I am Janice, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist offering therapy online in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Michigan, and California. I am also an LGBTQ+ ally who is kink-informed and experienced working with non-monogamous relationships.
For nearly 20 years, I have worked with people across a wide range of relationship dynamics who are navigating real difficulties together. What I have seen, over and over again, is that most people are not fighting because they do not love each other. They are fighting because they have not yet found a way to make their words land the way they mean them to. That is a skill. And it can be learned.
Your words matter. Let’s help them land the way you mean them.
My approach is direct and warm. I will not sit quietly and nod while you spin in circles. I will be honest with you because I believe that is what actually helps. At the same time, I am not here to judge you, assign blame, or tell you who was right in last Tuesday’s argument. I am here to help you both get better at the thing that matters most: understanding each other and feeling understood.
I bring a bit of humor into the room too, because navigating hard conversations does not have to feel like an endurance test. Lightness, when it is earned, can be a powerful thing. Many clients find that being able to laugh together, even briefly, in the middle of difficult work is part of what helps them stay connected to why they are doing this in the first place.
